Xiaomi 11T may have the usual problem with the proximity sensor

Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro they should be the company's most powerful smartphones of 2021, waiting for it to arrive Xiaomi 12. If this is true on the one hand, given the processors MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Snapdragon 888 respectively, on the other hand the same cannot be said about proximity sensor. We have seen how, perhaps, in the future Xiaomi could break away from Elliptic Labs and we hoped that the "divorce" was imminent. But unfortunately, according to what we learn, It is not so. The reasons could be many and we will not know them until the company makes an official decision.

Xiaomi continues to rely on Elliptic Labs for the proximity sensor. We also find it on Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro. But why?

Xiaomi 11T continues to mount Elliptic Labs' digital proximity sensor. This only means one thing: the problems will continue to exist, also for this new series of smartphones. Apparently Ellictic Labs presented his AI Virtual Proximity Sensor INNER BEAUTY on the new device, in standard version (it seems only this, but we do not count on it). Recall that the proximity sensor on Xiaomi smartphones have continued to give problems for years. The reason is one: the devices are not equipped with a physical sensor, but a digital one.

xiaomi 11t has elliptic labs proximity sensor

What is the difference? An optical sensor works thanks to infrared and, in a nutshell, is not subject to flaws of any kind. If it were, the problems would be sporadic. The digital proximity sensor, on the other hand, as we know, has many problems. This set out to match the optical sensor in terms of performance eliminating the need for unnecessary additional hardware. In hindsight, this additional hardware is anything but superfluous.

Now, the sensor AI Virtual Proximity Sensor INNER BEAUTY it is different from the previous one and probably (but only probably) the problems that smartphones suffered from might not show up. However, this is not certain. The company is still the same and the sensor continues to be digital and not physical. Now the verdict can only be given by users, once they have purchased Xiaomi 11T. We remind you in this regard that the smartphone will arrive in early October on the official channels.

fortunately my Mi9T has an infrared sensor and has NEVER created any problems for me,
by doing the CIT test, do you immediately understand which sensor you have? if, from flat, passing the hand up, the sensor responds, you have infrared, as indeed, on Mi9T
while if from flat, passing the hand over there is no sign of "life" as on my wife's Mi10Tlite, there is the ultrasound one
we hope that, as soon as possible, Xiaomi detaches itself from Elliptic Labs and returns to use infrared ones
