Xiaomi's batteries will no longer explode and the proof is in this patent

How many times have we heard of a device Xiaomi which explodes due to a malfunction in the battery? If you don't remember the events here they are: it happened once with Notes redmi 7 Pro, then with Notes redmi 6 Pro and even with the Mi Band 5. In the latter case it even happened from an Italian user. However, things could change, indeed, they certainly will. According to reports from Chinese sources, the brand would have proposed a patent that would guarantee the battery safety even if charging for too long. Let's go see all the details.

A Xiaomi patent will help smartphones keep their batteries healthy, and not explode: a necessary measure after the cases occurred

Clearly this patent was not presented in response to the very limited cases of explosion, which among other things happened in India most of the times. It is a necessary step for all companies to progress not only in terms of software with the control and the battery calibration, but also in terms of hardware. This sort of "limiter" that is proposed by Xiaomi would allow keep the battery of our device healthyor even if it remains attached to the power for longer than expected.

It often happens that smartphones and other electronic devices remain in charge for a long time. In these conditions, they continue to charge even after the device's battery is fully charged. This can lead to the above problems, namely an explosion. As mentioned, the cases are very limited but a small manufacturing error and the BOOM effect is guaranteed. The patent mentions verbatim:

The device will enter floating charge mode in time to avoid dangerous situations such as swelling and smoke of the battery. In this way, the safety factor of charging can be improved

The patent describes a system that estimate battery capacity in real time while charging and adjust the power at the right time. In fact, there is nothing revolutionary about this system. Some manufacturers have already added similar solutions to their smartphones: when charging is done at full power up to a certain level, it is subsequently reduced to minimum power to avoid damage. However, it seems that Xiaomi has foreseen one "floating" mode (so we can translate) which would put the smartphone on standby and block the flow of current.
