Xiaomi is consolidated as the third best-selling brand in the world

Since Xiaomi has put down roots in the European market, its growth has been unstoppable, thus contributing to its expansion also on a global level. The successes of the Asian brand led by Lei Jun are nothing new here on the channel, but in times of crisis even in the technology sector, the result obtained by a company that until recently was unknown beyond the borders of China is causing quite a stir. As usual, a report drawn up by IDC highlights the sales performance of the company, which in 2020 managed to increase sales volume by 32% compared to the previous year.

In particular, by analyzing the last quarter of 2020, Xiaomi managed to consolidate its third position as the best-selling brand in the world, but at the same time obtaining the first position as year-over-year growth, with a volume of shipments of 43,3 million units.

Everything has a positive impact on the market share, which has gone from a previous 8,9% in 2019 to a current 11,2%. The decline suffered by Huawei, equal to 42,4%, is definitely alarming, victim of the ban by the American government and therefore one wonders if Xiaomi, recently included in the American entity list, could suffer the same negative treatment in terms of sales.

The gap to Samsung is close, as the South Korean brand boasts a market share of 19,1%, yet it would take very little for Lei Jun's company to even surpass Apple's share, queens of the market with 23,4%, also obtained with the launch of the iPhone 12 series where the Mini variant seems to be one of the most popular. Has the time come for Xiaomi to bring out a compact top of the range?

We will see, hoping that 2021 is a promising year in terms of news and sales for Xiaomi, that judging the current Mi 11 flagship, it could have many arrows in its bow to hit the target.
