Xiaomi: The required Samsung SoC will have some interesting features

Xiaomi he asked Samsung to build it a custom processor. The rumors that have been going on for a few months speak of the possibility that the Chinese brand will use Exynos. No, it won't. Samsung is a company that also manufactures SoCs for third parties thanks to its called wing Samsung LSI. Apparently, as revealed by Korean sources, the negotiation by the two sides would be continuing and indeed, it has gone to outline the architecture of the processor that will be born. let's see the details.

Xiaomi's custom processor will be built by Samsung, but it will not be an Exynos: it will be equipped with a still unreleased Cortex X2 core

The Korean source claims that in the last period Xiaomi and Samsung held several meetings. On these occasions the two poles discussed a lot about what to do and in particular they decided what type of core to adopt the processor that will be born. The news about him are few, if not existing, but it seems that a Cortex X2 core will be used. What is it about? It is still early to say, but MediaTek can tell us something in this sense.

According to what emerged months ago, the first processor that would have adopted a core Cortex x2 would have been the MediaTek 2000. The news came from Digital Chat Station but he died there in the bud. At the moment there are no official information about this particular and interesting processor, but rumors always suggest that the architecture will be the following:

  • one or more A78 cores
  • Latest generation Mali G79 GPU

As we said, it's just about news not officially confirmed. The sources are reliable but it is still necessary to take the news with the right precautions. What is certain, however, is that Xiaomi will (never) use an Exynos. The cooperation with Qualcomm is too close and the deals have already been decided beforehand.
