DxOMark has just released the selfie camera review on board the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, giving a total score of 83 points, 84 points for photos and 81 points for videos. In general it is a mediocre score, very similar to those of mid-range smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy A71 or more older high-end models such as the iPhone XS Max.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro on DxOMark: The selfie cam does not convince
Let's start by remembering that at the hardware level the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is equipped with a 1/3 inch sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels and a fixed focus lens with a focal aperture of f / 2.0.
Going to the review itself, according to DxOMark, the Mi 10 Pro can take good selfies under appropriate conditions. In most cases, the subject is well exposed and, thanks to a large depth of field, it is possible to obtain acceptable details even in group selfies or with selfie sticks. In addition, the photos offer correct facial exposure, good details in good light conditions, and good flash exposure.
On the negative we have a limited dynamic range, unnatural skin tones in low light conditions, image noise in all conditions and the blur gradient that in bokeh mode is unnatural.
Turning to the videos, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro showed good face exposure in good light and interior conditions, good skin tone, excellent depth of field and details in the overexposed parts of the images.
As for the less positive sides, the smartphone has a very disappointing anti-vibration system during video recordings. With a jitter effect, hue deviation, unstable exposure, limited dynamic range in bright light conditions and unnatural skin tone in low light conditions.
In conclusion, for users who occasionally send selfie photos or videos who do not care about insufficient dynamic range and poor optical stabilization, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can substantially meet their needs, if it is necessary to shoot vlogs or photos / videos instead. high-quality, maybe it's better to turn to something else.
Finally, remember that at launch the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro obtained a score of 124 on DxOMark, going to third place in the ranking. Unfortunately, the selfie camera instead positioned itself in twentieth.
