As by now Xiaomi tradition, together with the presentation of the new device, it Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, the review on the most important site in the world regarding the rating of the cameras has also arrived; we are obviously talking about DxOMark. This time, however, the French site has not only reviewed the photographic sector, but also the audio sector.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro reviewed on DxOMark: It dominates both in the photos and in the audio
Let's start by remembering the main features of the cameras on Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro:
- Primary: 108MP, 1 / 1,33 inch sensor with 25mm equivalent, f / 1,69 aperture lens, OIS (25MP output resolution)
- Short telephoto lens: 12 MP, 1 / 2,6 inch sensor with equivalent 50mm aperture, f / 2 aperture
- Long telephoto lens: 8MP sensor, 1 / 4,4 inch with 94mm equivalent, f / 2 aperture lens, OIS
- Ultra-wide: 20MP sensor, 1 / 2,8 inches with 16mm equivalent lens, aperture f / 2,2
Moving on to the review, let's start with that of the photographic sector. Here the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (not to be confused with the Mi 10) gets a score of 124 points. This score puts him at the top of the DxOMark ranking, just above the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G with 123 points.
The score is then divided into a score as far as the photo category is concerned, the Mi 10 Pro gets the score of 134. While for videos it reaches 104 points, the highest score ever seen on a smartphone.
Going into detail, the score of 134 was obtained thanks to the good levels of detail in most conditions and an accurate exposure in all the conditions tested. We then saw some pleasant colors when shooting outdoors with an accurate estimate of the depth and good details in bokeh mode. Finally, even in the zoom shots at medium and close range we have good details, as well as for photos taken with the ultra wide angle camera.
On the other hand, the Mi 10 Pro showed problems with focusing on the faces. Occasionally slightly opaque colors, in particular for red tones and a disturbance of the luminance visible in the shadow areas of the frame. Finally, there are cases of ghosting in images taken in ultra-wide and in HDR mode.
Moving on to the video field review. The Xiaomi flagship presented a video stabilization was quite effective and a fast and precise and constant autofocus with little or a lot of brightness. In addition to good detail rendering in most conditions.
What the DxOMark team didn't like is the slightly limited dynamic range that can lead to overexposure or underexposure; an unnatural rendering of red tones and noise can be quite intrusive in low light conditions. Finally, artifacts were noted with aliasing and noise on the edges of the images, evident especially in conditions of high and low brightness.
Let's go now to see the audio sector, which from a hardware point of view includes:
- Double loudspeaker type 1216 "Superlinear";
- Smart PA system (power amplifier with current and voltage detection :) to increase the maximum volume;
- Two 1.2cc audio cameras.
Let's move on to the review itself, starting with the reproduction. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has shown very good and consistent overall performance. A dynamic, timbre and spatial audio (3D) above the other tested phones. In addition to a high power and bass precision that improve the reproduction of electronic and hip-hop music. On the other hand, the speakers are easy to occlude when playing, with the audio performance in films slightly lower than the musical performance. Finally, the maximum volume is good but lower than other phones.
As for the recording instead, the device presented a good overall spatial performance, with a precise location as a strong point. The recordings have a natural and balanced frequency. The volume looked good, as well as the vocal rendering in all use cases. DxOMark did not like the recordings in the Memo app with an unnatural sound, audible noise in high volume recordings (such as concerts), while in a domestic scenario, the background noise was quite evident.
In any case, although with some flaws, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro managed to go to the top of the audio ranking with 76 points. Divided into 77 in audio playback and 71 in recording.
