Xiaomi has just unveiled the new Mi 10 Ultra, one of the most advanced smartphones on the market, with 120W ultra-fast charging, 120Hz display and 120X zoom camera. Thanks to the latter, together with the other three rear sensors, the smartphone managed to get 130 points on the famous DxOMark photographic benchmarking platform, putting it in first place in the overall ranking.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the new King of DxOMark with 130 points!
Let's start by quickly remembering the hardware that we find on board the device. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra arrives with a 48 MP Quad-Bayer primary sensor, 1 / 1,32 inch large, with a 25 mm equivalent lens, f / 1,85 aperture and OIS (excellent image stabilization) coupled to a camera with 12MP sensor, 50mm equivalent lens (2x optical) and f / 2 aperture. Then there is a 1 MP 2/48 inch Quad Bayer sensor, 120 mm equivalent lens (5x optical) with f / 4.1 aperture and OIS and finally an ultra wide angle camera with 1 / 2,8 inch sensor, resolution 20 MP and 12mm equivalent focal length. So we have a focal length ranging from 12mm of the ultra wide angle lens to 120mm of the telephoto one; goodbye DSLR?
Seriously, these sensors are then added a Dual LED flash, a multispectral color temperature sensor and features such as the ability to shoot 8K 4320p video at 30 fps, 4K 2160p at 30 / 60fps (2160p / 60fps).
Going to the review itself, Xiaomi's Mi 10 Ultra scored 142 points for the photographs and 106 for the video test. So a slight handicap for the latter who have significantly lowered the total score.
The smartphone showed good exposure of the subject and a wide dynamic range in the photos. Together with an accurate white balance and excellent detail with medium and long range zoom. On the negative side, DxOMark encountered slight luminance noise under most conditions and an occasional rendering of unnatural textures in HDR shots.
As for the videos, on the other hand, there was an excellent compromise between consistency / noise in all lighting conditions, but the dynamic range proved to be slightly limited.
