Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra vs Mi 10 Pro: first photographic comparison

A few days ago, about ten, the release of Xiaomi mi 10 ultra. The new flagship, however, is intended only for the Chinese market. Despite attempts by users of the bring it to Europe, we see no effort on the part of the brand to make it land on our continent. We must therefore be content with Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, the company's current European flagship. So why not do a photographic comparison between these two? Maybe knowing that the Ultra will not come to us we will know appreciate the Pro's photographic capabilities more. Let's see together what comes to us from China.

A first photographic comparison between Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro: two sacred monsters compared

First let's do a quick comparison of optics. The My 10 Ultra mounts a triple rear camera formed by a primary sensor Omnivision OV48C 48 megapixel, a periscope from 48 megapixel and a tele from 20 megapixel. We 10 Pro instead it mounts a quadruple rear camera formed by a primary sensor Samsung HMX from 108 megapixel, a wide angle from 20 megapixel, a telephoto from 12 megapixel and a fourth sensor from 8 megapixel. But which of the two will take better photos? As always we support the idea that the number of megapixels does not make the quality. And you?

In this first shot we see a stretch of road surface. In the first case on the left, the colors seem more realistic: white and gray are real. In the second case, however, the color of the concrete tends to yellow and in the same way the white line also goes to yellowish. Definitely the new flagship tends towards colder tones and the Pro version on the hottest ones. From here we can understand how the difference in the color control in the two devices is obvious. It must be remembered that the Ultra model main sensor is produced, for the first time on Xiaomi, by Omnivision. This has allowed to slightly lower the costs as Omnivision is a Chinese company.

We are always outdoors, this time a flower bed is framed with gods greens and red / copper. This time the effect is the contrary: the version Ultra seems to tend towards more yellow tones while the Pro on those a little bit colder. No doubt this effect is given by the position of the light as well as by the brighter colors present in the scene. The coolness of Mi 10 Pro can be seen in particular from the tiles bitchy, which are duller than the others on the left.

In this third photograph we see the facade of a house. It is obvious how thecamera exposure on Mi 10 Ultra is better than that of camera on Mi 10 Pro. It makes us understand the level and amount of details on the door: while in the first case the browns are clearer and sharper, and therefore more details are recognizable, in the second case the browns are darker. The yellow of the wall is too bright on Mi 10 Pro and this makes us understand that the Omnivision is better than the Sony 108 megapixel camera.

At first glance these photos look identical but let's look at the bow by Hello Kitty: on the left we have gods super accentuated light reflections, while on the right they are less evident. This leads to a brighter red color, almost orange in the first case while more true in the second. There ultimately color rendering is something that varies a lot from sensor to sensor. Ultra seems a little too much overexposed.

In this last photo, what we saw happens between the first and second shots. Although Mi 10 Ultra tends to overexpose the colors, in this case it is Mi 10 Pro that turns on the lights a little too much. It is evident that the gold color on the left is more dull (but more vivid) than the one on the right. At the level of details even the Mi 10 Ultra does a great job, better than the Mi 10 Pro anyway.

Ultimately we can say that despite the megapixel gap, Ultra performs really well. After all, it is the king of DxOMark. We apologize if the images are not of the best quality, but this is what we found. Nevertheless, we are able to evaluate the quality of the devices in the photographic field

I believe the MI 10 PRO has a Samsung sensor, not Sony ...
