Xiaomi MIX Flip: the new folding clamshell smartphone with dual cameras and crease-free screen

Xiaomi MIX Flip

Well, according to the latest rumors, the Xiaomi MIX Flip will have two cameras integrated into the external screen, which will act as a secondary display when the phone is closed. This solution will allow you to take selfies and video calls without having to open the device, and to have a larger viewing surface. The two cameras will be placed in two circular holes, Huawei style, and will have a resolution of 16 MP and 8 MP.

The internal screen of the MIX Flip, however, will be crease-free, thanks to a production technology that Xiaomi has developed. This is one 8,01 inch flexible screen, with a resolution of 2480 x 1860 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3. The screen will also have a 120 Hz refresh rate and a brightness of 600 nits, to ensure excellent image quality.

On the back of the Xiaomi MIX Flip, we will find a dual camera setup, consisting of one 50 MP main camera and a 3x telephoto lens. The main camera will be equipped with a Sony IMX766 sensor, while the telephoto lens will be able to offer up to 12x optical zoom.

Under the body of the MIX Flip there will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, Qualcomm's most powerful chip, which will support 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 6E. The processor will be joined by 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal memory. The battery will be over 4500 mAh and will support the quick charge from 67 W, both wired and wireless.

The Xiaomi MIX Flip will be Xiaomi's first folding clamshell smartphone, but not the only one. The company is in fact also working on Xiaomi MIX Fold 4", a book-style foldout that will have a quad camera setup with a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and satellite communication. Both devices will be launched in 2024, but the precise date or price is not yet known.
