Redmi Note 8 Pro reviewed on DxOMark, only gets 84 points

Although the smartphone was presented in September of the past year, the most famous photo rating site in the world, DxOMark, has today released the review of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro; the brand's latest mid-ranger powered by MediaTek processor.

Redmi Note 8 Pro reviewed on DxOMark,

The smartphone scored 84 points on the benchmark platform, a rather disappointing score if we consider that the Black Shark 2 reviewed in November he had received the same points, and that even then there seemed to be few even for a gaming phone.

But what are the reasons behind the device debacle? Well, according to DxOMark, the Redmi Note 8 Pro showed a limited dynamic range with many points overexposed. A lack of detail and the presence of artifacts in close-up images. In addition to several problems such as color distortion and lack of focus on the corners. Not to mention the lack of detail in photos taken indoors and a general slowness of the autofocus system.

If we go to see those few positive sides instead, we discover that the smartphone is able to focus correctly when there is a lot of light, it can decently adjust the exposure at night or with low brightness, as also in photos with flash. It is also able to correctly isolate the subject in photos with bokeh effect (subject in focus, blurred background).

As for the video side, the Note 8 Pro has done even worse here with a final score of 78 points. Score is due to the dynamic range once again limited. While the exposure constantly fluctuated both in videos shot inside and outside. Then there was a lot of noise (let's talk about video, not audio) in all light conditions, a wrong white balance with an orange tint inside the houses, and finally the autofocus showed several tracking problems in poor conditions brightness.

On the other hand, DxOMark found a good video stabilization in static scenes, a good exposure of the subject with a lot of light and also inside the house. Ending with nice colors in the videos shot outside.

As we said previously, in our opinion this is a fairly negative score. The Redmi Note 8 Pro arrived in fact with a sensor at the very modern times, the Samsung ISOCELL GW1 with 64MP. A sensor with a size of 1 / 1,7 inches, larger than many previously released flagships such as the Huawei P30 Pro which instead on DxOMark reaches 114 points. We must also remember that the French site rewards the presence of multiple cameras and on the Note 8 Pro we have four on the rear. Despite this, the score is similar, if not lower than that of the Black Shark 2, a gaming phone with only two cameras.

Now tell us yours. What do you think of this score? Were you disappointed or did you expect it? Please let us know in the comments section below.
