Redmi G Gaming Laptop: Official the super cheap gaming laptop

After hearing about it only a couple of days, Redmi surprises everyone by quietly launching the Redmi G Gaming Laptop. The new laptop for gamers just uploaded to Xiaomi's official website in China has some really impressive hardware, including Intel flagship processors, high refresh rate display, WiFi 6 and much more, all at a relatively low price. In fact, we are talking about a starting price of only 4999 Yuan, on € 610 at current exchange rates; let's go find out more!

Redmi G Gaming Laptop: Official the super cheap gaming laptop

Xiaomi Redmi G

The Redmi G arrives with a "hardcore mecha" style design with a strong visual impact. In particular we have the upper part of the laptop which sees a decoration with different lines that typically make us think of something technological. At the same time, the pure black color makes it look more serious and "combative". We can therefore say that this is a design mainly created for the youngest who like the gamer look, a little less recommended for those who want to bring it to a business meeting.

In addition to the aggressive lines we also find a logo that says “DESIGNED BY XIAOMI” on the upper exterior. While the rest of the surface sees a frosted spray finish to improve the feeling in the hands, although unfortunately the number of easily distinguishable fingerprints increases.

As for the display, the Redmi G uses a 1080p resolution screen with 16,1 inches diagonal. Commonly gaming laptops (and laptops in general) use 15,6-inch displays, so the Redmi G's 16,1-inch display will have a larger viewing area. The brand also claims to have adopted thin bezels around the display to bring a more immersive gaming experience.

In terms of quality, the Redmi G's display uses a 144Hz refresh rate, which can provide a much smoother feeling of use during a gaming session. At the same time, a 100% sRGB color gamut is supported to maintain an excellent color level across the entire screen and display much more accurate colors. Furthermore, the display also supports DC Dimming technology, which effectively reduces eye discomfort caused by the screen during daily use.

Finally, unlike other gaming laptop brands, Redmi G has moved the camera and microphone to the bottom of the screen, so that the laptop's top bezel can be further reduced for a more modern design.

Moving on to the keyboard, this looks a good size but does not have RGB backlighting. Instead, it uses a monochromatic white backlight and supports three-power backlight adjustment, from the lightest to the strongest. At the same time, the four “WASD” keys and the space bar on the keyboard are specially designed to facilitate gamers' gaming operations.

The touchpad instead adopts an integrated design, i.e. the left and right buttons are not separated, so depending on your taste you may like it or not. In any case, according to Redmi it is a very precise touchpad.

Xiaomi Redmi G

In terms of internal configurations, the Redmi G is available with three Intel options. It starts from the cheapest one with an Intel Core i5-10200H, quad-core processor with a frequency of 4.1Ghz, passing through the Intel Core i5-10300H with a maximum frequency of 4.5Ghz and ends with an Intel Core i7-10750H with 6 cores and 5Ghz frequency. As for RAM, all three options come with 16GB of 4MHz DDR2933 RAM, the same goes for internal storage with a 512GB PCIe SSD.

In addition to the CPU, the video card also changes, we have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX️ 1650 if you buy the cheaper version, while the other two come with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX️ 1650 Ti, so a slightly more performing graphics card. Note that only the two more expensive options adopt a 144Hz refresh rate panel.

From an interface point of view, the Redmi G provides an Ethernet port, a MINI DP, an HDMI and a port for power cable entry, all on the back. On the left side we find a USB 2.0 interface and an audio jack to connect headphones, while on the right we have two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports and a USB Type-C port with all the features.

Finally, as regards prices, the Redmi G has a starting price of 4999 Yuan (610 €) for Intel Core i5-10200H, 5799 Yuan (705 €) for the version with Intel Core i5-10300H and finally 6599 Yuan (800 €) for the one with Intel Core i7-10750H.

I did not understand which is the most powerful video card the 1650 super or the 1660 ti?

Maybe it was the 1660 Ti, apart from the first model, the others are equipped with a 1650 Ti, decent for light gaming.
I looked at the European prices and they are inflated by 40%, in the end if the prices had remained these would have been a big deal, but in this way they are going to be placed in the same price range as other brands and therefore will pass in muted. Lost opportunity.

They. As usual. If instead of costing 600-800 it gets to 900-1200 we might as well buy a much more accessible (in the sense of ease of purchase) and commercial (in the sense of some offer) MSI \ ASUS \ ACER in a store in Italy. You pay and leave with the laptop. With warranty etc. Anyway, where can you find it online?
