The most likely launch date for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is October 2023, in line with Google's usual schedule. The launch could take place at a special event in California, where Google may also showcase other hardware products such as smart speakers, Chromebooks and wearables.

Out of the two models, the Pixel 8 Pro is the one that should catch the most attention, as it is expected to come with top-notch specs and features.

As revealed by the leakster Yogesh Brar in fact, the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 6,7-inch QHD+ OLED display and with a 120 Hz refresh rate and an LTPO technology that dynamically adjusts the refresh rate based on the content being viewed. The display will also have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric unlocking.

We will then find the Google Tensor G3 processor, Google's first custom SoC for smartphones, which is expected to offer high performance and advanced AI features. The processor will be accompanied by a dedicated Titan security chip, which will protect users' sensitive data, along with 12GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of internal storage space, with no option to expand via microSD card.

The Pixel 8 Pro will be equipped with a battery from 4.950 mAh with support for wired charging from 27 W. It's unclear whether the device will also support wireless charging or reverse charging.

For the photos we will have a rear camera system made up of three sensors: a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 64MP ultra-wide sensor it's a 48 MP telephoto sensor. The camera system should be able to take high quality photos and videos in different light and zoom conditions. The device will also have a new time-of-flight (ToF) sensor that will help with focus and depth. The sensors used will presumably be Samsung's ISOCELL GN2 for the main sensor, ISOCELL GM5 for the telephoto lens and Sony's IMX787 for the ultra-wide. There will be one ahead front camera from 11 MP for selfies and video calls, probably housed in a hole in the display.

Finally, the smartphone will also have an infrared temperature sensor, an unusual feature that will allow users to measure their own or someone else's body temperature simply by pointing the phone at their face.
