I tried the KAIROU HR18 PRO, a high-end electric scooter with excellent features and performance superior to most of the competition. The excellent quality/price ratio also pushed me to test it for you as a valid alternative to the more well-known brands.

KAIROU HR18 PRO Comes already partially assembled. We just have to fix the handlebar with the screws and the supplied hex key.
Design and features
The Design is simple, clean and as often happens it is similar to Xiaomi electric scooters. It has compact dimensions of 117x53x120 cm and a weight of 20 kg which makes it an ideal vehicle for use in the city. It can in fact be folded and transported very easily in public transport or loaded in the trunk of the car.
It features a sturdy frame that supports a weight of up to 125 kg, average for these vehicles and is a good one general quality indicator constructive. Certification is also present IP54 which ensures waterproof sprayed with water for 10 minutes, but it is always better to run away in case of rain.
La footboard measuring 49×17 cm, it is large enough to accommodate your feet in parallel and the rubberized surface that covers it offers a lot of grip and stability. Under the platform we find the classic easel, not adjustable but of the right size.

Performance and autonomy
The KAIROU HR18 PRO electric scooter mounts a 500W brushless rear motor, with a peak of 800W. It is not a "racing" scooter but it is an absolute one the fastest and most powerful scooter I have ever tried among the 500W.
THEacceleration is scorching and makes the pace fun. The maximum speed is not limited and it is not possible to do this even via the application. It reaches 45 km in a few seconds, however, according to my GPS detection correspond to 40km/h scarce, however very many for this category. The credit also goes to battery from 48V (they are usually 36V) which provides adequate support to the engine.
In addition to the "walk" mode designed for pedestrian areas, we have 3 possible driving modes: ECO with limits of 12 km/h and attenuated acceleration; D (drive) with a limit of 20 km/h; S (sport) without speed limit.
As the slope increases, speed and fun gradually decrease but it is all in all normal. He defends himself very well up top too slopes of 15 ° and it is important to be able to tackle at least the most common slopes.
Autonomy declared is of 40/50Km and as always she is a little optimistic. It is true that we have a generous 15Ah battery, but if we use the scooter in S mode, we will see the battery go down quickly. In my tests where I didn't save myself, I traveled about 30km on a single charge. To fully recharge, the battery takes about 6 hours.
Safety and compliance with the highway code
I electric scooters they have had a great diffusion and from being an object of entertainment they have become the protagonists of electric mobility with consequent regulation.
The KAIROU HR18 PRO falls within the parameters required for exclusion of direction indicators that are missing. They are essential to comply with the Italian highway code but fortunately it is possible purchase turn signal kits starting from €30.
La braking it is managed by two brakes that work in sync. On the rear we find the electronic brake which also recovers kinetic energy. Previously there is instead a drum brake, a somewhat unusual choice but which proved to be sufficiently effective in braking though poco modular. However, maintenance is more complicated than disc brakes and this must be taken into account.
Il front headlight LED is not directional but has a good performance and allows you to move around safely in the evening and is also accompanied by a small reflector. There rear light It acts as both a parking light and a flashing brake light during braking. There are others to increase (passive) visibility at night 2 reflectors on the rear wheel.
I 10 ″ tires they offer greater stability and comfort than the classic 8.5″, they are of the inner tube type and the package includes the appropriate adapter for the rear wheel which integrates the engine.
The KAIROU HR18 PRO it also has a double shock absorbing system on both the front and rear wheels, It therefore absorbs bumps very well and generally improves driving comfort even on bad roads. Good cushioning also ensures better grip, better braking and therefore greater security in general.
Application for Smartphone
It is possible to connect our smartphone via bluetooth to the app Tuja Smart available for both Android and Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. Connecting via Bluetooth is simple: just turn on the scooter for the app to detect it.
In the application, which is well designed and graphically designed, we already find a lot of information and functions on the main screen to activate the lighthouse, the alarm, choose the driving mode, enable starting without thrust (zero start), activate the cruise control, etc.
The anti-theft it is the most useful function of the app because it inhibits propulsion and blocks the rear wheel but above all it also works by turning off the scooter. Obviously it is not a permanent solution but it is sufficient for a short stop, perhaps for a coffee.

The electric scooter KAIROU HR18 PRO it is a good product that does the comfort and power its best features and capable of providing lots of fun in safety. Compact and quite light, it is ideal for use in the city but does not suffer from rough terrain.
It's a shame about the drum brake which isn't a real flaw but must still be taken into account as well as the absence of direction indicators.
