Following the Mi Band 3 and Amazfit Bip, an application of our knowledge has extended its compatibility to the latest Mi Band 5. The queen of smartbands that could soon arrive in Global version with NFC chip for contactless payments it has now the possibility to act as GPS navigator. If you remember correctly, at the beginning of last year an Italian developer (and we are proud of this) by name Francesco Re created an app that allowed the previous generation smartband to work as a navigator. This service is now also available for the new Xiaomi wearable.
A navigator at your fingertips: Xiaomi Mi Band 5 turns into GPS with this all-Italian application
The app in question looks like a sort of evolution of the old "Mi Band Maps" and takes the name of "Navigator for Mi Band 5/4/3, Beep and Cor". Basically compared to the old version the support for Mi Band 5 which, with its 1.1 ″ display, lends itself better to the function than previous products. As mentioned in the subtitle, this is it an all-Italian application and therefore it is worth spending € 0,99 for one-off purchase. Below is the presentation video.
What does this application do? Allows you to receive the Google Maps driving directions directly on your wearable device. Through its interface, it can easily customize incoming notifications. As the developer communicates, only navigation on foot and by car is supported while the public transportation is not yet supported. This means that in a future moment this functionality can be implemented.
This app needs the app to work We Fit o Notify & Fitnes for Mi Band. For all other applications, as stated in the description, operation is not guaranteed. Although the video above is in English, the app obviously supports the Italian language. The only permission the application asks is for notifications.
