Wanbo TT is the best buy low cost projector of the moment!
A few years ago buying a projector was an almost prohibitive undertaking! Very high costs and only fair performances except in the case of products that are practically inaccessible to most. Today, however, we have a variety of products with a really excellent value for money, including the Wanbo, a Chinese brand that has made its way into the sector. Today we talk about Wanbo TT, the latest in a very successful series of low cost projectors.

DESIGN AND SIZE
Aesthetically very beautiful! This glossy black gives a really premium feedabck and all in all it doesn't even hold fingerprints very much. The material appears to be polycarbonate but of excellent workmanship and the front grille of the speaker in aluminum alloy. Above we find the on / off button.
The dimensions, really compact, are of 17cmx12.5cmx17cm for a total weight of 1.6Kg. This gives our TT excellent portability, also considering that the technical characteristics are of a good standard and a much lighter product could not be made. Below we find the standard attack to be fixed to a tripod, therefore maximum versatility of transport and positioning.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS WANBO TT
Let's start immediately from brightness, a fundamental parameter for a projector! We are at 650 ANSI lumens which of course are not a great value, but we must always keep in mind the price of our device. In its range they are certainly the highest value you can find and they will ensure you a good vision even in conditions of partial brightness of the surrounding environment. In total darkness they will give you an excellent response! Resolution is FullHD, 1920x1080p, but don't worry that videos will also play in 4K! The lamp is certified for 30.000 hours while the size of the image, generated by a DLP system, varies from 60 to 120″ based on the distance at which you will place it (from about 1.5m to 3m). As for the fire, it is guaranteed by a TOF laser system and I assure you that it works really well. In a few seconds it finds the perfect focus and if you move it it will be recalibrated instantly.
The audio is discreet, reproduced by 2 speakers from 5W of power. It goes without saying that if you want to get higher quality sound you will have to connect a surround system, a pair of TWS speakers or a soundbar. It's still usable even like this, much better than other products I've tested in the category, but forget the low frequencies.
Another feature that I find FUNDAMENTAL is the automatic keystone correction. Simply put, the Wanbo TT will auto adjust to find the perfect rectangular size of the output video. In many projectors of this price range it is manual and I assure you that the perfect shape is difficult to find. Having it automatic saves us from a really annoying and often complicated operation.
Very good the noise that stops below i 40db, so it won't bother you when watching even silent scenes. The BT is 5.1 so no problem for the quality of the audio stream if you use an external system. Double band available WiFi 2.4-5GHz.
It does not have an integrated battery, so it will always have to be connected to the power cable which is approximately 2m long. This could be a problem, so get an extension cord if you don't have an outlet near where you're going to put it.
INPUTS - OUTPUTS
The inputs and outputs are as follows:
- HDMI (input)
- USB (input)
- 3.5mm audio (out)
There aren't many but they are essentially what you need. An optical output is undoubtedly missing but we could not claim to have everything. Through HDMI and USB we will have access to any multimedia content we will need and with the 3.5 audio output or the BT 5.1 connection we will be able to connect many devices, even of excellent quality.
WANBO TT SOFTWARE
The initial setup is very simple: every time you start the projector it will automatically focus and correct any trapezoidal distortions! and this I assure you is a considerable plus! The first time it will also ask you for the location to set and optimize the image. You will have 4 available for maximum versatility.
Then the real configuration will begin, you will simply have to set: language, region, accept the usual contractual obligations for updates, etc., insert the home wi-fi network, configure Netflix (if you have it).
Now you're ready to have fun! You will find yourself in the home of Wanbo TT
Here, using the classic gear icon at the top right, you can enter the general settings which are really many and will allow you to set up your projector as best you want. But if you are not geeks you can leave everything as it is, it will be fine! But if you want you can change the image, audio, connect BT audio devices, focus and manual keystone correction (but I recommend leaving it on automatic), automatic shutdown, image zoom and much more.
You can of course also choose the input source between HDMI-HOME-USB. If you connect a USB stick / HD you will have access to videos and music in many formats!
The only small drawback we find in this section .. in fact we do not find Android TV but a proprietary software that will not allow us to easily install third-party software not present in its (meager) store. Let's say that the most important streaming services are there, work well and are certified in High Definition: Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, but certainly we would have preferred to have Android to be able to better manage all the applications we like. In fact, very important applications such as Dazn, Infinity, Now TV and others are missing.
We always remember that there will be the possibility of mirroring from the phone but above all of connecting a stick with an integrated operating system (such as the Amazon fire stick or the Xiaomi Mi Tv Stick) so you will have all the software of the google play store at your disposal. There is also the possibility of making a digital zoom to decide the size of the output screen.
The interface is still intuitive and very similar to Android TV, so no problem even for the less experienced. To search for the apps and games available, click on “app store”.
The MediaTek 9266 processor which runs everything smoothly and absolutely fast is very good.
VIDEO QUALITY WANBO TT
The video quality is really impressive for a device of this price. The 650 Ansi Lumens seems to me to make even more than the cold number, in fact I tried it in non-optimal light conditions (let's say at sunset with a room that was not exactly dark) and yet I really liked the brightness, contrast and color response! We remind you that the maximum definition is FULLHD but it can easily play 4K content. Compatibility also with HDR10 it certainly helps to have a really high-level image quality. It should also be considered that I tested it on a white wall which we remember is not the best as there is always a drop in brightness if not used with a special projection screen and despite this the result is truly amazing. Take the demo video that I am attaching here with a grain of salt for obvious shooting, framing, etc. reasons.
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
As with any product, the value for money is essential to understand how logical it is to proceed with the purchase of the same. Well, here we are faced with a very high relationship! In fact, let's consider that the list price of the Wanbo TT is around €320 (already very low) but with the offer of GEEKBUYING our partner site (and which we thank for sending the sample) you can take home with a discount of around €100 and at this price it becomes an absolute BestBuy in the category. So my advice is this, if you want to try to enter the world of projectors without spending a significant amount but at the same time taking a good quality product that can make you understand the potential of these devices, go straight to this one and there will be no you will regret!
