A few days ago we talked about them hard test to which the Youtuber Jerry Rig subjects the Xiaomi Mi Mix, a test in which the phone does comes out as a winner; now is the time for the smartphone to undergo the drop test. Will the Mi Mix survive the test carried out by Jerry Rig this time too?
Below we list the various phases of fall test which was subjected to the Xiaomi Mi Mix and finally released the video on YouTube.
First Jerry Rig place two more smartphones on the ground to film the Mi Mix fall, relying on the footage of Apple's Google Pixel and iPhone 7 contestants. The first fall is from a height of 6 inches (15 cm), and the ceramic back of the phone is the only part to hit the ground. There are no visible signs or scratches and the front remains intact.
At this point, the Xiaomi Mi Mix is dropped by a height of 1 foot (30 cm). In this test phase, the phone falls on the ceramic back and performs "somersaults" after hitting the ground, finally landing on the front. Like before no scratch marks are observed.
As the last stage of the fall test Jerry Rig simulates one real situation, where he leaves the smartphone on one leg while sitting on a bench and then get up abruptly by dropping the phone. In this case the height of fall is 2 feet (60 cm). The fall of the Mi Mix is transversal to the ground landing with the front part on the ground having first hit the upper right edge. After this test the ceramic coating is chipped by creating two large slits on the screen: Despite this, the Xiaomi Mi Mix is still working.
This test conducted by Jerry Rig highlights that the outside of the phone and the screen may remain permanently "disfigured" even after a fall from 2 feet that does not represent a large height. Then an external cover, such as that already contained in packaging, should solve most of the issues to which the most vulnerable buyers may encounter during their coexistence with Mi Mix.
