Xiaomi Router 10G, mini host and Sound Pro: design and first specifications revealed

As we know, on December 11 Xiaomi will hold a conference for the presentation of the 13 series in which it will also launch several new products, including the Xiaomi speaker Sound Pro, the mini host and its first 10G router.

Xiaomi Router 10G, mini host and Sound Pro: design and first specifications revealed

Well, today the brand has released teasers for all three products. Let's start with the last mentioned, or the Xiaomi Router 10G which will be equipped with four 2.5G network ports. According to the official release, this router is expected to have several advanced features that will be announced at the press conference.

It is understood that in addition to the 4 2.5G network ports, the router also has a 10G port. The overall configuration should include 1 10G optical port as well as 4 2.5G network ports, adaptive Wan/Lan and link aggregation support.

The wired transmission speed of the 10G Ethernet port can reach 10Gbps. If instead we go to calculate the bytes, the transmission speed is about 1250 MB/s, or about 10 times higher than that of the Gigabit network, this means that more data can be transmitted simultaneously.

Xiaomi has officially declared that the Xiaomi 10G router will be the “grand finale for this year”, a beast in its category. In terms of design, the router resembles Xiaomi's previous high-end products like the AX9000, with a polygonal-shaped body. Recall that the AX9000 is equipped with Qualcomm IPQ8072A processor, 1GB built-in memory, 2.5G network port, active cooling fan, USB 3.0 interface, etc.

Moving on to the mini host (or NUC), judging by the official Xiaomi poster, the product is similar to an Intel NUC or Apple Mac mini, therefore it is an ultra-compact desktop computer, from the image it almost seems that it enters the palm of the hands.

In addition, this new product is expected to have an all-metal integrated design, with a USB port, a 3,5mm headphone jack and a power button with a concave design at the bottom, and a micro cooling hole on the right side, while the power, HDMI and other ports are on the back.

As for its configuration, judging by the details leaked previously, it is thought that the mini host will equip an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H APU, or a 45W power chip, equipped with a Radeon 680M RDNA2 iGPU, 16GB of memory and 512 GB SSD.

The price of the above configuration is said to be 3999 yuan, around 540 euros, but a cheaper version is also expected to be launched which should be priced below 3000 yuan, around 400 euros at current exchange rates.

Finally, we have the next Xiaomi Sound Pro which at least from the photos looks much bigger than the previous Xiaomi Sound, especially the height. A substantial improvement in audio quality is therefore expected.

The overall look is similar to the Apple HomePod and Huawei Sound X, but it has its own slightly different design language than the first two.

At the same time, the Xiaomi Sound Pro appears to have added an ambient light, which should be able to interact with voice commands, and can also change color and intensity when playing music, for a stronger sense of immersion.

Xiaomi Sound

In terms of specifications, the JD reservation product page shows that the Xiaomi Sound Pro will have a gross weight of 3,08kg, support SBC, AAC audio transmission protocols, have an impedance of 8Ω, and support input 3,5mm aux.

If we take the previous generation as a reference, the Xiaomi Sound Pro should also support multi-unit networking, which is not only able to bring stereo sound, but also achieve seamless audio experience throughout the house.

It is worth mentioning that the previous generation of Xiaomi Sound opened up to the Apple system ecosystem and supported playback with AirPlay 2 present on iOS. We expect the same on the Sound Pro as well.
