Xiaomi Sagit alias Xiaomi Mi 6 appears on GFXBench

Closing the opening day of the Mi Fans Festival comes news that we offer you exclusive!

Directly from the GFXBench test and benchmark site, a new Xiaomi smartphone appears called Sagit - from Sagittarius, one of the zodiac signs that have been used as a code name for most Xiaomi smartphones, therefore attributable to the Xiaomi Mi 6. The usual Weibo bloggers give the news, which show the results and features of the test device, specifications that seem to fit with those up to now planned for the next Xiaomi home flagship.

One of the most trusted sources in China, Liao Yiwen, says that unfortunately we are in front of a castrate version of SoC.

Going into detail, Xiaomi Sagit is present in two variants: the first, equipped with a processor octa-core Qualcomm with 2,2GHz clock and the other always equipped with an octa-core SoC Qualcomm but with higher frequency, 2,4GHz. There RAM is of 4 and 6GB, with storage space of 64 and 128GB, respectively. For both models the graphic processor is the Adreno 504, the  is a full HD from 5,15 ″ and both have Android 7.1 Nougat as an operating system. Other specifications concern the cameras present: the rear from 12Mp capable of recording video in Ultra HD (3840 × 2160) and the front from 8Mp that always supports UHD video recording. You do not have other information about the presence of the double rear camera appeared in the render and in the photos of the cases appeared in these days, or the type of photo sensor used.

The tests to which the Xiaomi Sagit is subjected (Manhattan 3.1, Tyrannosaurus, etc.) are high-level tests that test the device by recording and evaluating the data obtained by loading highly graphic content very similar to games.

We see that the performance of the smartphone is overall excellent, clearly surpassing the other top of the Xiaomi range already released including the Mi Note 2 and the whole Mi 5 series, but remaining poco below the level of performance obtained by the iPhone 7 Plus. It should be noted that in the comparison chart with other smartphones, the wording “835 machine engine” appears, which could refer to the SD835 processor.

As for the possibility that a downclocked SD835 is used in the Xiaomi Sagit and therefore in the Mi 6, I would like to add that, by investigating more thoroughly the origin of these tests, it may be that more tests have been performed with multiple processor versions, to give an idea of the achievable performances. At the moment the hypothesis of a Xiaomi Mi 6 model with SnapDragon 821 processor remains more likely for me. Obviously these are just my considerations.

What do you think of these tests?

Still a couple of weeks and the wait will be over!
