It is no secret now that Xiaomi Mi 11 is the most powerful and complete smartphone at the time of writing this article. Not only the accomplice of this hardware compartment of the latest generation, of which the device becomes the standard-bearer, but also a myriad of new and unprecedented functions. For example, we saw one yesterday: the possibility of using the sensor fingerprint scanner such as a heart rate monitor. Today, however, we talk about the photo and video sector and in particular we focus on Night Video Mode. Thanks to BlinkAI, the device is the first in the world to natively support it.

Here are two demo videos that show how Xiaomi Mi 11 shoots video at night: absolute quality was possible thanks to the partnership with BlinkAI

As always, for completeness of information, it seems only right to say who is BlinkAI. It is a company that has always been a leader in the imaging sector, supplier of solutions for the image enhancement based on intelligence artificial. The company has announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Xiaomi to bring the improvement of videos in low light conditions on Xiaomi Mi 11, the new flagship of the Lei Jun brand. Here are the videos shared for the first time by XDA staff which show the differences in video quality, between a clip shot in Night Mode and one in standard mode.

To fully enjoy the experience we advise you to put the videos at the highest resolution. Even with a low resolution, you can understand the improvements in shooting videos: brightness and vividness of color are the keywords. Bo Zhu, co-founder and CTO of BlinkAI says

“We are thrilled to partner with Xiaomi to offer its customers low-light enhancements for real-time HD video. This is the first time that this artificial intelligence technology has been available on a smartphone and is fundamentally different from the other “night photo” features used by consumers to date."

But how does it work in detail? The acquisition, or rather, thedata processing is based on proprietary deep learning software by BlinkAI. This, coupled with Qualcomm's Neural Processing Unit (NPU) on the platform Snapdragon 888, applies adjustment algorithms that allow in a few milliseconds to modify very noisy images and videos and poco enlightened. All this, the company says, it is based on the imitation of the criticalities of the human eye, to get a result very close to the natural one.
