OnePlus is ready to renew its offer of wearable devices with the launch of OnePlus Watch 2, its second smartwatch that promises to be very different from the first. The new smart watch from the Chinese brand will be presented at Mobile World Congress 2024, the fair dedicated to the world of mobile telephony which will be held in Barcelona from 26 to 29 February.
OnePlus Watch 2: the new smartwatch with Wear OS will arrive at MWC 2024
The OnePlus Watch 2 will be the successor to the original OnePlus Watch, which was launched in 2021 and received mixed reviews from users and the trade press. In fact, OnePlus' first smartwatch, despite having an elegant design and good battery life, suffered from some software and compatibility issues, as it is based on a proprietary operating system and not on Wear OS, Google's platform dedicated to smartwatches.
This time, however, OnePlus seems to have changed course and decided to adopt Wear OS for its Watch 2, following in the footsteps of Xiaomi, which launched its Watch 2 Pro with Wear OS last September. This choice should guarantee greater integration with Android smartphones, a better user experience and a greater variety of applications and features.
According to rumors leaked online, the new smartwatch will have a 1,43-inch circular AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, which should ensure smooth and responsive performance, and all the necessary sensors for monitoring health and physical activity. The design will be updated, with a metal body and two physical buttons on the right side. The smartwatch will be available in two colors: black and white.
Details on the price and availability of the Watch 2 are not yet known, but it is likely that the Chinese brand will reveal them during the presentation at MWC 2024. The Watch 2 will therefore be one of the protagonists of the fair, together with the new smartphones OnePlus 12 and 12R and the new OnePlus Buds 3 wireless headphones.
